Shoreditch is located within the London Borough of Hackney and its general borders are loosely mapped with Old Street to the north, Brick Lane to the east, Old Street Station to the west and Old Spitalfields Market to the south.
Shoreditch has many prominent restaurants, hipster bars, art galleries and is known for its "warehouse" style loft apartments. Over the past 20 years, Shoreditch has undergone substantial gentrification and due its close proximity to the City, has become a popular home to city workers as well as students.
Places to go out include The Hoxton Pony, The Elbow Room, The Rivington Bar & Grill and Shoreditch House. The White Cube Gallery and Geffrye Museum are also within the Shoreditch.
Many bus routes go to and from the city from the Old Street roundabout. Shoreditch also has train links leading to all parts of London with Old Street and Liverpool Street in close proximity as well as the new East London Line.
